“Street of Shame” (4K digitally-restored film supervised by IMAGICA) has been selected for screening in the Classics section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival.

IMAGICA Corp. (CEO: Katsumi Obayashi, Located in Shinagawa, Tokyo) has provided the 4K digital restoration to the “Street of Shame” (1956, Directed by Kenji Mizoguchi, KADOKAWA), which had its world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival in the Classics section.

With Cannes and Berlin film festivals, the Venice International Film Festival is considered to be one of the Top 3 World Famous Film Festivals, and has gained high reputation as an international film festival. Every year, digitally remastered classics are screened as a part of its Venice Classics, with a total of 17 films presented this year.

“Street of Shame”, the final film by the great Kenji Mizoguchi, is an artistic masterpiece that details the vivid trials and tribulations of women who cry themselves to sleep under the neon lights of the city night after night. International audiences were able to see the 4K digitally restored film when it was screened as a part of the Classics section of the Venice International Film Festival.
